About the CNYS Black Expo

The mission of the Capital of New York State Black Expo is to promote economic growth and business opportunities across New York State. We are pleased to announce that we are making a return to service the community after having to postpone due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The CNYS Black Expo will provide attendees with health awareness information to support healthy living, along with providing small businesses with an opportunity to access a broad range of potential customers as well as the local community. Many local small businesses and community-based nonprofits lack opportunities to network effectively with similar entities within New York State .

These opportunities are more important than ever due to the fact that our targeted communities were impacted the most by Covid19 in the health and business space.

We are excited to return this year and provide a forum to build relationships and exchange information to support small businesses and encouraging health services collaborations.

The CNYS Black Expo inspires cultural and local pride via exhibits, workshops, presentations, and performances by youth, changemakers, and positive figures from the Capital District and beyond.

Celebrating 4 Years!

Each year our expo finale is our CNYS Black Expo Gala which serves as an opportunity to honor and celebrate local change makers and leaders. This is a formal awards event that is hosted the evening of the expo . In the past this closing celebration has proved to be a place for locals to fellowship with the community leaders and to hear empowering words from our keynote speaker. The expo will also provide an opportunity for local small businesses and community-based nonprofits to build relationships and exchange information, encouraging collaboration and new business prospects across the Capital Region and nationally.

Support Our Scholarship Fund

In 2022 we were able give away 2x Educational Scholarships totaling $4,000 to local High School Students. Thank you to all of those who supported our efforts through donations, time spent and even spreading the word. We look forward to doing more this year!

We’re raising funds for scholarships to help the next generation of local and world leaders achieve their goals. Your attendance and participation is an investment in the next generation.

2022 Scholarship Awardees

My name is Nia Etienne, I was the class of 2022 Valedictorian at Bishop Maginn. I’ve recently begun my college journey. I go to Wells college in Aurora NY. While this is a fairly unknown area, it is a tranquil place for self care and reevaluation near Cayuga lake. I am majoring in Psychology and plan to go to graduate school in California in the years to come to further my studies in the field of Developmental Psychology. This is all to help me open up my own practice for children to see how and why they do the things they do. To fix their inner child before adulthood to create better, more mindful and humble people as a whole. We don’t realize that the way we grow up affects us as years go on and it’s too late to overcome because people become set in their ways. l plan to change the course for people who had a hard time growing up or certain circumstances that affected them as a child. Help them feel more included and that it’s okay to be vulnerable.

My name is Cameron M. Royal, I am from Schenectady NY and a Senior at Niskayuna High School. World cultures are my hobby, while in kindergarten we were taught Spanish and Chinese and it opened my taste buds for more. Over the years I have studied an additional 4 languages, French, Spanish, German and Latin. My free time is spent participating in extracurricular activities such as Indoor Track and field, and the Varsity Football team. Academically my courses include AP and Honor courses which I used to challenge myself in preparation for my short term goal which is after high school I wish to continue my studies at the collegiate level and major in Criminal Justice, followed by my long term goal of attending Law school with hopes of becoming a criminal defense attorney.
