About the CNYS Black Expo

The mission of the Capital of New York State Black Expo is to promote economic growth and business opportunities across New York State. We are pleased to announce that we are making a return to service the community after having to postpone due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The CNYS Black Expo will provide attendees with health awareness information to support healthy living, along with providing small businesses with an opportunity to access a broad range of potential customers as well as the local community. Many local small businesses and community-based nonprofits lack opportunities to network effectively with similar entities within New York State .

These opportunities are more important than ever due to the fact that our targeted communities were impacted the most by Covid19 in the health and business space.

We are excited to return this year and provide a forum to build relationships and exchange information to support small businesses and encouraging health services collaborations.

The CNYS Black Expo inspires cultural and local pride via exhibits, workshops, presentations, and performances by youth, changemakers, and positive figures from the Capital District and beyond.

Celebrating 4 Years!

Each year our expo finale is our CNYS Black Expo Gala which serves as an opportunity to honor and celebrate local change makers and leaders. This is a formal awards event that is hosted the evening of the expo . In the past this closing celebration has proved to be a place for locals to fellowship with the community leaders and to hear empowering words from our keynote speaker. The expo will also provide an opportunity for local small businesses and community-based nonprofits to build relationships and exchange information, encouraging collaboration and new business prospects across the Capital Region and nationally.

Support Our Scholarship Fund

In 2021 we were able give away 3x Educational Scholarships totaling $4,000 to local High School Students. Thank you to all of those who supported our efforts through donations, time spent and even spreading the word. We look forward to doing more this year!

We’re raising funds for scholarships to help the next generation of local and world leaders achieve their goals. Your attendance and participation is an investment in the next generation.

2021 Scholarship Awardees

My name is Syaira Liverpool, a 2021 Albany high school graduate & alumnus. Im currently in my first semester of freshman year at Howard university in Washington D.C majoring in criminology in hopes of one day becoming a civil rights attorney & open my own non-profit organization dedicated to legally representing people of color who have little to no financial means to afford the proper representation they deserve & work with others to debunk the criminal justice system, historically put in place to criminalize our people, & build it from ground up.

Hello, my name is Milan J. Miles, a 2018 graduate of Greentech Charter High School of Albany, NY. I am starting my Senior year at Rochester Institute of Technology as a graphics/art major. I should hope to open a Graphic Design business of my own. I also being a Junior Mentor for Team Hero, envision opening a community center aimed to uplift the children of our community. A center where they are taught to respect themselves and each other. A safe place. Free from drugs and violence. Encourage them to be themselves. Embed in them how important an education is, and that education is the key to changing your life. I just would like to have a program full of positive mind and positive attitudes. Help the young people realize they do not have to be a product of their environment. They can be successful in spite of their environment. We are not just athletes and rappers. We can be whatever we choose.
